Selected Recent Accomplishments

  • For the fifth consecutive year, Hartley Michon Robb was ranked in Chambers USA 2016 as one of four Band 1 law firms in Massachusetts in the field of Labor & Employment: Mainly Plaintiffs Representation.  Jim, Katherine and Barbara were all recognized individually as leaders in the field.  Chambers lauds the firm as a “Distinguished group of leading plaintiff attorneys offering expert advice … Demonstrable strength in a diverse range of issues”.  Clients stated Everyone was amazingly responsive and incredibly respectful of the sensitivities of my issues…”  “They were extremely fastidious in looking out for my best interests throughout the process.” 
  • In August 2016, Jim, Katherine and Barbara were selected by their peers for inclusion in the 2017 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
  • In 2015, Barbara was selected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a highly selective honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers who are selected based upon their superior litigation and ethical reputations. 
  • In June 2015, Jim presented at the Massachusetts Bar Association CLE program, Employment Contracts in Change of Control Transactions: Dos, Don'ts, Tricks and Traps.
  • In May 2015, Patrick was named among the Excellence in the Law Honorees by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
  • In 2014, for over ten years in a row, Jim, Katherine and Barbara were named to the Thomson Reuters/Boston Magazine’s New England Super Lawyers list. For the fifth time, Katherine was also listed among the Top 50 Female Lawyers in Massachusetts. 
  • On August 18, 2014, Best Lawyers named Katherine as a 2015 “Lawyer of the Year” based on the high esteem in which she is held by her colleagues.  In addition, she was named 2015 New England Best Lawyer in the field of Labor and Employment Law. 
  • For 2014-2015, Katherine continues to serve as a member of the Steering Committee of the Labor & Employment Law Section of the Boston Bar Association, most recently as Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee and of the Communications Committee, respectively.
  • Katherine also continues to serve as Co-Chair of the Sexual Harassment Regulations Drafting Committee, a joint bar committee working on regulation reform with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.  
  • During 2013-2014, Barbara spoke to lawyers at the Massachusetts Bar Association about Irreparable Harm: Enforcing and Escaping Employee Non-Competition Agreements, and to physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center regarding contract negotiations.  In 2014, Katherine spoke about employment law issues at the National Association of Bar Executives Annual Meeting. 
  • In December 2013, Katherine co-chaired the MCLE Annual Employment Law Conference. Barbara co-presented the Discrimination Law Update. 
  • In October 2013, Katherine and Jim spoke about Executive Employment Agreements at Essex Partners.
